Christopher Toussaint is an award-winning film & video Producer/Director, Writer, Director of Photography (DP) and Editor. Currently he is owner of Free Spirit Productions in West Los Angeles, California and the Director of Transvision, a spiritual media society devoted to conscious and healing program production.

Specializing in progressive, leading-edge new-paradigm, documentary media, Toussaint has been directing, producing, writing, shooting and editing since receiving a Korvettes Super-8 and then, a Fujica Single-8 film camera in the late 1960s. In 2004 he was awarded the Roy W. Dean Film Grant for his work-in-progress, The Secret Life of Water, about the healing and pollution-clearing effects of energized or “structured” waters.  He also provides independent producers, non-profits and companies with media production, post production and computer graphic services.

Among other projects, he was editor on the award-winning documentary, Crows of the Desert (2016), DVD Author for the HBO special, American Winter (2013), editor for the alternative health feature The Cure Is… (2011), director of Visions: The Art of Catherine Andrews (2011), editor for Locked Out (2010), a film by Joan Sekler about the struggle between the union miners of U.S. Borax and the Rio Tinto mining corporation, cameraman/co-writer/editor for Raw For Life (2007), editor for The Science of Miracles (2006), cameraman for Paul Davids’ documentary Sci-fi Boys (2005), and technical director and editor for Rev. Dr. James Forbes: One In The Spirit (2005) for the Hartley Film Foundation. He edited The Robert F. Kennedy Medical Center: 75 Years of Service for Matrix Communications, winner of a local Los Angeles Emmy Award (2003), produced and directed Peace In Space and On Earth with Congressman Dennis Kucinich and Carol Rosin (2002), edited Crashing The Party: The Democratic Corporate Convention (2000) for the IndyMedia Center LA and edited Metro Farming Project’s Sweat Equity (2000), about urban neighborhood community gardening in Los Angeles.

In 1999 he produced & directed Cold Fusion: Fire from Water, winner of an Aurora Award Platinum Best of Show, a Silver Axiem Award, a Telly Silver Award and Honorable Mention at the Columbus International Film & Video Festival. He also produced and directed Roswell: The UFO UnCoverup (1998),winner of 3 EBE Awards at the International UFO Congress and a 1999 Telly Finalist, and David Adair At Area 51 (2000), winner of an EBE Award for Best Historical UFO Documentary. All are currently in distribution via home video and online streaming.

As director his credits include the best-selling video, Opening To Angels (1994), honored by the Film Advisory Board, Excellence In Media and the 17th Annual Telly Awards, and Free Energy: The Race to Zero Point (1997), awarded a Finalist statuette in the 18th Annual Tellys, an Aurora Gold Award and Best Special Interest Documentary from the Profit Producers.

In 1999 he edited the documentary Experiencing The Soul directed by Eliot Jay Rosen of the For A World We Choose Foundation. Videotaping stints included the Awakened World Conference for New Earth Communications and an interview with Jean Houston in Passion For The Possible for producer Valli Aman and Oasis TV. From 1992 to 1995 he was the Director of Acquisitions and Sales for Lightworks Audio & Video where he also produced numerous video programs (The Second Coming of Science, Secrets of Natural Hormone Therapy and Hidden Memories) audiotapes, promos and the company’s logo.

He is past Executive Director of The Producers Consortium where he produced the short, Columbus Go Home, about the protest of local Tongva (Gabrielino) indigenous peoples over the selection of Christopher Columbus’ descendent as Grand Marshal of the Rose Bowl Parade, and the documentary feature, Future Options, focusing on alternatives for creating a more environmentally-sustainable and socially-just society. He also organized and hosted “Getting At The Heart of Truth”, a monthly speaker series held at the Electronic Cafe in Santa Monica featuring independent producers of alternative, socially-conscious productions.

Other programs he has produced and/or directed include Investing Your Conscience series for KWHY-TV, the Business Channel; Star Flight, New Age music video & a Silver Award winner at the Houston International Film Festival; and Rodeo Clown, documentary short & Finalist in the National Student Film Festival.

Toussaint graduated from the University of Maryland and started as a 16mm film editor for American National Enterprises and Alan Landsburg Productions. He has since served as cameraman, editor, writer, production assistant, researcher and/or director on numerous commercials, shorts and long-form programs in television, theatrical features, educational films and home video including The New Candid Camera, Disney Channel’s American Teacher Awards, ABC’s The Earth Day Special, and In Search Of with Leonard Nimoy. 420864_10150733178443949_1760089689_n
